EHS Supervisor

Position: EHS Supervisor
Location: Greater Bakersfield Area, California

A manufacturing facility in the Greater Bakersfield area is seeking a dedicated EHSQ Specialist to support its operations by promoting a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable environmental, health, safety, and quality standards, while fostering continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Champion a proactive safety culture by developing and maintaining procedures, conducting audits, and managing documentation to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and provide guidance to site leadership on compliance matters. Ensure timely completion of all required reports and documentation.
• Coordinate and deliver training programs related to health, safety, and environmental practices. Maintain accurate training records and communicate safety concerns to management and staff.
• Lead incident investigations, track corrective actions, and manage documentation in accordance with internal and external standards (e.g., ISO). Utilize digital platforms for document control and reporting.
• Oversee emergency preparedness and response programs, including medical monitoring and industrial hygiene protocols. Manage the personal protective equipment (PPE) program and ensure proper implementation.
• Drive initiatives focused on waste reduction and behavioral safety, emphasizing sustainable practices and positive reinforcement. Collaborate with operations teams to enhance EHSQ processes.
• Provide laboratory support as needed, including assisting with quality control testing and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the facility.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related discipline; equivalent experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment will also be considered.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and California-specific environmental and safety regulations is preferred.
• Hands-on laboratory experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to draft and review technical procedures.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with SAP is advantageous.
