Head of Indirect Procurement

A global organization is seeking a seasoned Head of Indirect Procurement to oversee U.S. indirect spend management. This strategic leadership role will be responsible for $350M+ in indirect third-party spend, reporting to both the Global Head of Indirect Procurement and the Regional CFO.

The role requires a business-minded procurement executive with deep category experience, the ability to lead cross-functional sourcing strategies, and the commercial mindset of a general manager. You will directly manage a team of 3-4 sourcing professionals and act as the lead procurement business partner for the U.S. regional executive team.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and coach a team of 3-4 direct reports, setting clear operational standards across a $300M+ spend portfolio
  • Foster a performance-driven culture, provide career development and feedback
  • Prioritize team initiatives and resolve resource conflicts

Strategic Sourcing & Regional Alignment

  • Translate U.S. business goals into actionable sourcing strategies
  • Customize and implement global sourcing initiatives at the regional level
  • Define and drive regional category plans across G&A and Commercial/Marketing categories
  • Own development and alignment of sourcing plans with Legal, Regulatory, and Finance stakeholders

Value Creation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the U.S. President and Leadership Team
  • Identify value levers, optimize TCO models, and deliver validated annual savings of 4-5% ($14M-$17M)
  • Influence business strategy through the lens of procurement and cost optimization

Contract & Supplier Management

  • Lead complex negotiations for long-term agreements, MSAs, SLAs, LTAs, and incentive-based contracts
  • Initiate supplier collaboration strategies and improvement programs
  • Ensure supplier performance, compliance, and innovation across categories

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 10+ years in strategic sourcing or procurement (ideally with a consulting or corporate procurement background)
  • At least 5 years managing direct reports and leading regional or global teams
  • Proven success in greenfield or transformation environments
  • Experience overseeing significant spend across indirect categories, particularly Marketing, IT, Facilities, and Professional Services

Leadership & Change Management

  • Ability to operate in matrixed, high-growth environments
  • Skilled in managing ambiguity and building structure around evolving business priorities
  • Strong executive presence and stakeholder influencing ability

Technical & Analytical Acumen

  • Deep expertise in sourcing processes, TCO modeling, and contract strategy
  • Skilled in e-procurement tools and advanced Excel modeling
  • Strong financial acumen to partner with FP&A and validate business case results
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills (PowerPoint proficiency essential)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-driven procurement environments is a plus
  • Knowledge of U.S. legal and compliance procurement frameworks
