About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Carrier Manager to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team based in Antwerp. This is a pivotal role within our logistics and supply chain operations, particularly focused on the procurement and management of transportation services in the chemical industry. As a Logistics Carrier Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless movement of goods, maintaining compliance with safety regulations, and driving cost-effective logistics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrier Management: Lead the selection, negotiation, and performance management of logistics carriers across various transport modes (road, rail, sea, and intermodal).
  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives to secure reliable and cost-effective transportation services aligned with business objectives.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor and optimize carrier performance through KPIs, service level agreements (SLAs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders including supply chain, procurement, operations, and EH&S teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all logistics operations comply with international and local regulations, especially those related to the safe transport of chemical products.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed about market trends, freight rates, and regulatory changes to proactively manage risks and opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with logistics providers to foster collaboration and service excellence.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Logistics Procurement Expertise: Proven experience in sourcing and managing third-party logistics providers, with a strong understanding of contract negotiation and cost analysis.
  • Carrier Network Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex carrier networks and ensure high levels of service reliability and efficiency.
  • Chemical Logistics Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the specific requirements and challenges associated with transporting hazardous and non-hazardous chemical products.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is a plus.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is an advantage.
