Maintenance Manager

Position Summary

Our are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance operations within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong balance of tactical execution and strategic system leadership, with a focus on improving equipment reliability, developing maintenance talent, and implementing structured maintenance programs.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader who can both "turn the wrench" and build scalable systems, bringing discipline to maintenance planning, MRO management, and asset lifecycle decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership & Execution

  • Lead, coach, and develop a maintenance team of approximately 8 direct reports across multiple shifts
  • Serve as a hands-on leader, troubleshooting equipment issues and supporting critical repairs as needed
  • Drive daily maintenance activities, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum equipment uptime
  • Establish accountability and performance standards across a team with varying skill and motivation levels

Systems & Process Development

  • Build and implement structured preventive (PM) and predictive maintenance programs
  • Develop and standardize maintenance workflows, KPIs, and reporting systems
  • Improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through disciplined maintenance processes
  • Utilize CMMS or similar systems to manage work orders, track performance, and drive data-based decisions

Training & Workforce Development

  • Design and implement training programs for maintenance technicians, including skill progression and cross-training
  • Mentor high-potential team members and elevate overall technical capability
  • Address performance gaps and create a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

Asset Lifecycle & Reliability

  • Evaluate equipment performance and conduct end-of-life analyses for tooling and machinery
  • Develop capital replacement plans and recommend investments based on reliability, cost, and operational impact
  • Identify root causes of failures and implement long-term corrective actions

MRO & Inventory Management

  • Oversee Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) inventory, ensuring proper stocking levels and cost control
  • Optimize spare parts strategy to balance downtime risk and working capital
  • Improve procurement processes and vendor management for maintenance-related materials

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to improve plant performance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and plant-wide operational goals
  • Contribute technical expertise to equipment upgrades, installations, and process changes

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5+ years managing a maintenance department in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and troubleshooting skills (ability and willingness to work on equipment directly)
  • Proven experience implementing and managing preventive/predictive maintenance systems
  • Experience managing MRO inventory and maintenance budgets
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including developing teams and driving accountability

Preferred

  • 10-15+ years of total maintenance experience
  • Background in industrial manufacturing environments (extrusion experience is a strong plus)
  • Engineering background (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) highly preferred
  • Experience with CMMS systems and data-driven maintenance strategies
  • Strong understanding of capital equipment planning and lifecycle analysis
