Mechanical Production Engineer
Overview
A modern manufacturing facility specializing in powder-based products is seeking a Mechanical Production Engineer to join its team. This position plays a key role in providing technical leadership for assigned production lines and associated mechanical systems. The role reports to the Technical Manager and works closely with cross-functional teams including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations.
This is a hands-on, performance-driven role focused on optimizing equipment reliability, improving production efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers a strong pathway toward future leadership opportunities in operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain daily production and quality metrics, along with operation logbooks, to ensure optimal unit performance and accurate documentation
- Continuously improve production operations to enhance efficiency, on-stream time, and equipment utilization
- Lead safety training initiatives, perform behavior-based safety audits, and maintain a strong safety presence within the unit
- Develop and update standard operating procedures in compliance with ISO9001 and PSM standards
- Prevent out-of-specification production by ensuring equipment is maintained to required standards
- Conduct thorough investigations into non-conforming products and customer complaints to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions
- Analyze and address sources of waste generation to reduce overall waste output
- Apply troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to respond quickly and effectively to a wide range of operational issues
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to minimize disruptions to production
- Work with Engineering and Maintenance teams to identify, communicate, and resolve production bottlenecks, maximizing production capacity
- Provide technical training to both salaried and hourly staff as needed
Requirements & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3-5 years of relevent experience in a Chemical Plant
- Leadership experience in chemical plant operations
- Proficiency in managing and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs), including Pareto analysis
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to act promptly and effectively
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S and TPM
- Understanding of PSM, environmental, and other regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies
- Involvement in plant commissioning processes
