Quality Manager
A well-established materials manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Manager to lead plant-level quality systems and ensure products and processes meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards. This role partners closely with Operations, Safety, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive quality performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the facility. This role will be based on-site in the greater Charlottesville, VA area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the site Quality function, including quality systems, audits, testing, and documentation
- Own the plant Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure alignment with ISO 9001 requirements
- Oversee internal and external audits, corrective actions, and preventive action programs
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, customer, and industry standards
- Act as the primary quality contact for customer concerns, site visits, and quality-related inquiries
- Analyze quality data, trends, and metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for process, product, and lab-related issues
- Partner with Operations and Engineering on process control, change management, and new initiatives
- Lead quality testing programs, material disposition decisions, and nonconformance management
- Support safety and risk assessment activities tied to quality and production processes
- Develop, coach, and retain a high-performing quality team through training and performance feedback
- Contribute to long-term quality strategy, capital projects, and plant improvement initiatives
- Ensure pest control and sanitation programs meet quality and audit expectations
- Support customer trials, testing, and sample evaluations as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline
- 7+ years of manufacturing experience with a strong focus on Quality or Process functions
- 5+ years of leadership or people management experience (prior change management experience is required)
- Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 systems and audits
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective actions, GMPs, and quality systems
- Experience using continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
- ISO Lead Auditor and/or Six Sigma certification preferred
