R&D Ingredient Specialist
Job Overview
We're looking for an Ingredient Specialist to support product development and supply chain stability by sourcing, testing, and qualifying food ingredients. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate ingredient documentation, improving recipes, and ensuring cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to evaluate new ingredients, manage specifications, and support production trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with suppliers to source and evaluate new ingredients for product improvement and cost savings.
- Create and maintain ingredient specifications, including data entry into systems like Genesis.
- Design and execute testing protocols to assess ingredient performance and suitability.
- Share findings with cross-functional teams including R&D, QA, Regulatory, and Procurement.
- Conduct shelf-life testing and coordinate production trials for new ingredients.
- Supervise initial production runs and assist with risk analysis for new ingredient use.
- Request and manage recipe updates through BOM changes in SAP.
- Stay informed on ingredient functionality, nutrition, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2-3 years of experience with food ingredients or formulations.
- Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and nutritional properties.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with scientific methods in product development.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field.
- Experience with experimental design and sensory testing.
- Knowledge of texture analysis and protein ingredients.
