R&D Project Engineer

I'm currently partnering with a leading medical device manufacturer that is strengthening its R&D organisation. We are looking for an experienced R&D Product Development Engineer with strong expertise in circular knitting and compression textile technologies.

About the Role

In this position, you will lead end‑to‑end development projects for venous compression products, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams and driving innovation from concept through to industrialisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead R&D projects for compression textile products and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Create and maintain the Design History File (DHF) in line with internal procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee product cost targets, project planning, and timeline adherence throughout the development cycle.
  • Design new products, including defining technical solutions, raw materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop knitting programs and support industrialisation of new products (circular knitting).
  • Consult with suppliers on alternative raw materials.
  • Build verification plans and perform associated testing.
  • Produce prototypes during design and development phases.
  • Analyse post‑launch customer feedback and implement corrective actions.
  • Improve existing products based on market needs and technical expertise.
  • Communicate product updates to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in industry groups related to compression textiles.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams (Marketing, Quality, Purchasing, etc.).
  • Conduct continuous technology scouting on materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Support environmental and safety targets, escalating any issues as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • Master's degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in the textile industry with a strong project management component.
  • Expertise in circular knitting technology (design, programming, and manufacturing) is essential.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical and professional English and French.
