Regional EHS Manager
DSJ Global is partnered with a top food manufacturing company to hire a Regional EHS Manager at their flagship site in North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
Direct all safety and security operations across the primary manufacturing complex and regional field operations, including live production and transportation facilities.Team Management
Supervise daily activities and personnel matters for both internal staff and contracted security personnel, ensuring consistent and effective resource deployment.Security Operations
Lead the facility's security team in developing and administering site security policies, tracking key performance indicators, and completing audits and site surveys.Technical Expertise & Compliance
Serve as the subject matter expert on safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, etc.), supporting cross-functional teams and capital projects to ensure regulatory compliance.Employee Engagement
Maintain strong engagement with the hourly workforce to promote safety awareness and resolve safety concerns promptly.Strategic Planning & Metrics
Develop and execute the site's safety business plan, analyze performance data, and report on key safety and security metrics.Training & Development
Ensure timely and effective completion of all required safety training programs across the organization.Incident Management
Lead investigations of safety and security incidents, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and track resolution.Emergency Response
Serve as a key member of the incident command team, directing emergency response efforts as needed.External Liaison
Act as the primary contact for third-party audits, inspections, and assessments (e.g., insurance carriers, fire departments, regulatory agencies).Contractor Safety
Oversee safety practices of permanent and temporary contractors to ensure alignment with facility standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 10+ years of safety management experience in a manufacturing environment, including multi-site responsibility.
- Proven track record of leading a safety program with a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) below 2.0.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial/food safety practices.
- Experience managing off-site personnel and contract security teams.
Skills
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems (e.g., OHM, SAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH/ABIH)
