Senior Category Lead - Directs (m/w/d)
The Opportunity
We are currently partnering with a global leader in the medical technology sector to appoint a Senior Sourcing Manager within their biggest business unit.
This is a highly strategic and visible role, responsible for shaping sourcing strategy across key commodities, driving supplier performance, and supporting end-to-end product lifecycle management in a complex, international environment.
You will lead an international team across Europe and the US, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive consolidation initiatives, optimise supply chains, and support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with divisional and global business objectives
- Lead supplier selection, sourcing analysis, and cost optimisation initiatives, including make-or-buy decisions
- Define and execute contracting strategies, including negotiation, implementation, and governance of supplier agreements
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including financial, operational, and sustainability factors
- Drive strategic supplier relationships and performance management frameworks
- Monitor market trends, technology developments, and cost drivers to inform business decision-making
- Lead the development of tools, metrics, and processes to enhance sourcing and supplier management capabilities
- Manage and develop a cross-border team, fostering collaboration and high performance
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years' experience in strategic sourcing / supply chain management
- Proven leadership experience, ideally within an international or matrix environment
- Strong expertise in supplier negotiations, contract management, and procurement strategy
- Experience implementing cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in German and English
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment
