Supply Chain Manager
SUMMARY
You will be responsible for driving the plant's end-to-end supply chain strategy and execution. This role combines leadership, operational excellence, and strategic planning to ensure seamless production, optimized capacity, and efficient logistics. You will lead a high-performing team, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and collaborate across functions to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction and business results. Your role will focus on aligning supply chain strategies with customer requirements, driving internal productivity, and upholding operational excellence standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and develop the supply chain team, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance management while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Drive strategic planning and execution by managing production schedules, capacity planning, and material sourcing to align with sales forecasts and customer demand. Ensure timely, cost-effective delivery through optimized transportation and logistics operations.
- Own system and process optimization, leveraging SAP ERP (PP, MM, SD) and MES systems to maintain accurate data, streamline workflows, and improve integration for better decision-making.
- Ensure operational excellence by translating customer orders into executable production plans, monitoring KPIs, and implementing corrective actions to achieve performance targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Sales, Maintenance, Quality, and IT to resolve issues, improve processes, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Champion compliance and risk management, ensuring adherence to health, safety, environmental regulations, and company policies while proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing timely updates on planning performance, risks, and improvement initiatives to drive transparency and alignment across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or MBA in Logistics, Operations or Supply Chain Management w/ 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Expertise in production planning and supply chain operations within the steel or heavy manufacturing industry
- Proficiency in SAP ERP (PP, MM, SD) and MES systems.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong leadership, motivational, and influencing capabilities to lead teams in solving complex problems and driving results.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Office environment, sitting for long periods, compute work.
- Occasional walks to the mill, dispatch and shipping yards
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds at times
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization facilities.
