Amazon Merchandise Manager
Our client is hiring a strategic and results-driven Amazon Merchandise Manager to lead their Amazon 1P (Vendor Central) business. This high-impact role blends merchandising, buying, and site management, with a strong focus on vendor operations and marketplace performance. The ideal candidate is a proactive, data-savvy leader who understands Amazon's algorithms and can drive growth through smart assortment planning and site optimization.
This role manages our entire Amazon account and oversees one direct report.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary contact for Amazon 1P (wholesale) operations.
- Own all product decisions and vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with Amazon's evolving buying strategies.
Assortment & Buying Strategy
- Develop and manage product assortments tailored to Amazon's shift from replenishment to fashion-focused buys.
- Create allocation strategies and monitor performance in-market to inform future buys.
Merchandising & Site Optimization
- Optimize product listings (titles, descriptions, A+ content) to improve discoverability and conversion.
- Leverage Amazon's algorithms and systems to influence purchase orders and maximize visibility.
Reporting & Analytics
- Analyze weekly Amazon reports to identify top performers, underperformers, and emerging trends.
- Use data to drive decisions around assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
Promotional Planning
- Plan and execute promotional strategies aligned with Amazon's event calendar (e.g., Prime Day, Labor Day).
- Identify and manage deal opportunities to maximize seasonal sales.
Inventory & Planning
- Collaborate with internal planning teams to manage inventory transfers and ensure proper allocation to Amazon.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- 3+ years managing an Amazon business in roles such as Amazon Account Manager, Marketplace Manager, Amazon Category Manager, or Amazon Merchandise Manager.
- Must have direct experience with Amazon 1P (Vendor Central).
- Experience in fashion, apparel, or wholesale is a plus.
Skills
- Strong understanding of Amazon's merchandising systems and algorithms.
- Proficiency in retail math, SKU management, and assortment planning.
- Analytical mindset with a passion for data and performance metrics.
