As part of continued growth in Northern Italy, the business is investing in its Bologna branch, a key logistics hub within the Emilia-Romagna region.
The Role
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to join the Bologna office, with a strong focus on new business acquisition and revenue growth.
This is a highly commercial role where you will be responsible for developing new client relationships, identifying market opportunities, and positioning tailored multimodal freight solutions.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Identify, target, and win new clients across the Emilia-Romagna region
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing
Commercial Growth
- Sell integrated logistics solutions across air, ocean, and road freight
- Develop tailored proposals aligned with customers' supply chain needs
- Negotiate pricing and contracts to drive profitability
Client Relationship Management
- Build long-term partnerships with key decision-makers
- Act as a trusted advisor on logistics solutions and optimisation
- Ensure high customer satisfaction and identify upselling opportunities
Market Intelligence
- Stay close to market trends, local industry developments, and competitor activity
- Identify new verticals and growth opportunities within the region
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with pricing, operations, and customer service teams
- Ensure seamless onboarding and service delivery for new customers
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in freight forwarding sales (air, ocean and/or road)
- Strong track record in new business development ("hunter" mentality)
- Solid understanding of the Bologna / Emilia-Romagna market
- Existing network of local clients is highly advantageous
- Commercially driven, target-focused, and self-motivated
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to team success
- Fluent in Italian and English
