Role Overview
This Buyer position will lead the execution of seasonal merchandising strategies, owning the full product lifecycle from concept through in-season performance for a high-volume sportswear category based in Miami, FL. Reporting into the Senior Director of Omnichannel Buying, this role plays a critical part in driving both top-line growth and margin performance.
You will oversee a broad, complex business spanning 10 product segments, managing an assortment of approximately 350 recurring style-color combinations across core, fashion, and seasonal classifications. The environment is fast-paced, with roughly 150 new styles introduced each quarter, requiring a balance of analytical rigor and strong product intuition.
This individual will serve as a key partner across Planning, Design, Sourcing, and Sales to build commercially successful assortments aligned with customer demand and business goals.
Core Responsibilities
Assortment Strategy & Execution
Develop and manage seasonal assortments across multiple categories, ensuring alignment between core continuity programs and new fashion introductions. Optimize SKU productivity and lifecycle performance across a high-volume business.
Menswear Category Expertise
Apply strong knowledge of men's apparel-including fit, fabrication, and trend direction-to shape assortments that resonate with the target customer while maintaining brand consistency.
Financial Management & OTB Ownership
Create and execute buy plans that meet financial objectives, including sales, margin, and inventory targets. Track performance using key retail metrics such as sell-through, inventory turns, and GMROI to inform ongoing decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with internal teams across design, sourcing, planning, and go-to-market functions to ensure accurate execution, on-time delivery, and alignment on seasonal priorities.
Vendor & Systems Management
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate costing, and oversee purchase order accuracy and delivery timelines. Utilize PLM and ERP systems to maintain data integrity across SKUs, orders, and inventory flow.
Market Engagement
Attend key market meetings and vendor appointments to align on product direction and strengthen partnerships across the supply chain.
Qualifications
- Experience in buying, merchandising, or inventory planning within the apparel industry
- Direct experience in menswear required
- Proven ability to manage large SKU counts and complex assortments
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and multi-category merchandising
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; experience with PLM and ERP platforms (e.g., Jesta, Essentus, or similar)
- Exposure to reporting/analytics tools such as Looker and familiarity with data-driven or AI tools is a plus
- Strong command of retail math, including OTB, margin analysis, forecasting, and inventory productivity
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
