Buyer
We are supporting a global leader in testing, measurement, and materials performance solutions is seeking a Buyer to support a complex manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for managing supplier performance, inventory availability, purchase order execution, and material flow to ensure production schedules are met. The Buyer will work closely with suppliers, engineering, operations, and planning teams to drive on-time delivery, resolve supply issues, and support continuous improvement across the procurement and supply chain function.
Responsibilities
- Manage purchase order placement and maintenance to ensure materials and components are available to support production requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, quality compliance, and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
- Monitor and expedite critical orders while proactively communicating supply risks and delivery deviations to key stakeholders.
- Partner with engineering and internal teams to resolve supplier-related technical issues and product specification concerns.
- Manage supplier performance, including on-time delivery metrics, root cause analysis, and corrective action initiatives.
- Handle non-conforming materials, returns, order cancellations, and other supplier-related resolution activities.
- Support inventory management initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the procurement function.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
- Strong supplier management and purchase order execution experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, formulas, and data analysis.
- Experience working within ERP, inventory planning, and supply chain management systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Experience purchasing across multiple commodity categories such as machined components, fabricated parts, cable assemblies, and electronics.
- Familiarity with ERP and supply chain platforms such as SAP, IFS, Agile, PDM, or SharePoint.
- Experience supporting manufacturing or engineered product environments.
- Knowledge of Kanban inventory management principles.
- Experience leveraging AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve efficiency and decision making.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
