Commodity Buyer

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commodity Buyer to manage sourcing, procurement, and supplier management for semiconductor components. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of global supply markets, semiconductor materials, and vendor negotiations. You will be instrumental in ensuring supply continuity, cost optimization, and risk mitigation in a dynamic and competitive industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers of semiconductor components and related commodities (e.g., wafers, substrates, ICs, packaging materials).

  • Procurement Management: Manage purchase orders, monitor supplier performance, and ensure delivery schedules are met.

  • Cost Optimization: Drive cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, alternative sourcing, and value engineering.

  • Market Analysis: Monitor semiconductor market trends, capacity, lead times, and pricing forecasts to make informed buying decisions.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, logistics, and production teams to align procurement strategies with operational goals.

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers; perform regular supplier evaluations and audits.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including single-source dependencies and geopolitical impacts.

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master's or MBA preferred).

  • 3-7 years of experience in procurement or commodity management, preferably within the semiconductor or electronics industry.

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and components.

  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
