Cost Accountant
Overview
A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Cost Accountant to support cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial analysis. This role partners with operations, supply chain, and finance to ensure accurate product costing and drive process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze work orders, maintain standard costing, and ensure accurate cost of goods sold (COGS)
- Perform variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, PPV) and support month-end close & P&L review
- Maintain inventory accuracy, including cycle counts, obsolete inventory, and GL reconciliation
- Lead annual standard cost roll, support project cost tracking, and provide cost estimates/pricing support
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 3-5+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, COGS, and variance analysis
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, reporting)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Prolonged use of keyboard and computer.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs. periodically.
- Frequent use of fine motor skills for writing, and computer work.
