Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Location: Littlefield, TX
Industry: Dairy Processing & Food Manufacturing

Position Overview

A growing food and dairy processing organization is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives for a production facility. This individual will be responsible for strengthening safety culture, reducing operational risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing environmental programs, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Environmental, Health & Safety programs and systems for the facility.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Serve as the site's subject matter expert on EHS compliance, risk management, and workplace safety.
  • Develop, maintain, and audit EHS documentation, programs, procedures, and records.
  • Coordinate facility safety inspections, environmental audits, and corrective action programs.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Manage workers' compensation cases in partnership with site leadership and human resources.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including ammonia refrigeration systems where applicable.
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and leadership teams.
  • Oversee emergency response preparedness and safety supply programs.
  • Manage environmental reporting, permits, inspections, recordkeeping, and agency correspondence.
  • Lead site safety committees and drive accountability for action items.
  • Track and report key EHS metrics, trends, compliance performance, and improvement initiatives.
  • Partner closely with operations, maintenance, sanitation, quality, HR, and leadership teams.
  • Support food safety and quality programs from an EHS perspective.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement focused on employee safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise EHS personnel and site safety resources.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, performance management, and professional development for team members.
  • Influence leaders and employees at all levels to achieve safety and compliance objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams focused on safety and environmental improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant EHS experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively increasing EHS leadership experience within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance standards, and workplace safety programs.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action management.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, compliance audits, and inspections.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee safety training programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and regulatory requirements simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, coaching, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and external auditors.
  • Proficiency in EHS metrics, reporting, compliance management, and risk assessment programs.
