EHS Specialist
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an EHS Specialist to support environmental, health, and safety initiatives across its operations. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing workplace risk, supporting environmental programs, and fostering a strong culture of safety throughout the facility.
Reports To: EHS Leadership
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
- Conduct safety audits, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations and drive corrective actions.
- Support OSHA compliance, lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs, emergency response planning, and safety performance tracking.
- Manage environmental compliance activities, including waste management, hazardous materials handling, permit compliance, wastewater programs, and regulatory reporting.
- Deliver EHS training for employees, contractors, and new hires while promoting employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Maintain EHS records, permits, training documentation, and compliance reports.
- Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to integrate safety and environmental requirements into daily operations and project work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or related environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, safety training, compliance audits, and risk assessments.
- Understanding of environmental permitting, wastewater compliance, and hazardous materials management preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, OHST, CIH, or HAZWOPER are a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
Work Environment
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor responsibilities.
- Regular exposure to industrial production environments.
- Ability to walk production areas, wear required PPE, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
