The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for…
- Leading safety training programs including CPR, First Aid, defensive driving, electrical hazard awareness, accident investigation, and new employee orientation
- Supporting compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state environmental and safety regulations
- Managing incident investigations, OSHA recordkeeping, injury reporting, and accident-prevention initiatives
- Administering drug and alcohol testing programs and related compliance activities
- Coordinating workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, accommodations, and modified duty processes
- Conducting facility, equipment, jobsite, and safety inspections to identify and mitigate risks
- Overseeing environmental compliance activities, including hazardous waste management and contractor coordination
- Supporting insurance claims investigations, liability reviews, and risk management initiatives
- Serving as a trusted safety resource for employees, supervisors, and operational leadership
- Traveling throughout the regional service area to support field operations and safety performance
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field preferred
- 5-7+ years of safety, environmental, utility, or industrial experience
- Experience supporting OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental compliance programs
- Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience
- Proven ability to deliver safety training across diverse employee groups
- Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Professional certifications such as CUSP, ARM, Advanced Safety Certificate, or First Aid/CPR Instructor credentials preferred
