Overview:
The Heat Treatment Manager is responsible for overseeing all facets of thermal processing within the manufacturing environment. This leadership role ensures that safety, quality, and production standards are consistently met while driving operational excellence and team performance. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of heat treatment processes, strong leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.

Responsibilities

  1. Direct and coordinate all heat treatment activities, including production scheduling, equipment upkeep, safety adherence, and team oversight.
  2. Lead a team of technicians and operators, cultivating a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  3. Ensure all thermal processes meet internal specifications and customer requirements, including metallurgical standards and hardness criteria.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support timely delivery of high-quality components.
  5. Manage preventive maintenance programs and partner with maintenance teams to reduce equipment downtime.
  6. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
  7. Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations to support employee growth and succession planning.
  8. Serve as the primary contact for Nadcap audits related to heat treatment.
  9. Uphold strict compliance with safety, environmental, and operational protocols.
  10. Adhere to company values, safety guidelines, and quality principles.
  11. Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to support operations and team engagement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in heat treatment operations, ideally within a precision manufacturing setting.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing production teams.
  • In-depth understanding of heat treatment equipment (e.g., furnaces, quenching systems), metallurgical principles, and process controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, automotive, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, Nadcap standards, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Proven ability to balance technical and administrative responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
