Indirect Commodity Manager

The Indirect Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across key indirect spend categories such as facilities, professional services, IT, MRO, capital equipment, and other non‑production goods and services. This role ensures supplier performance, cost optimization, risk reduction, contract compliance, and continuity of service across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories, ensuring alignment with operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead cross‑functional sourcing initiatives to meet timelines, cost targets, and service‑level expectations.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and identify opportunities to introduce new technologies, service models, and industry best practices.
  • Own and drive annual cost‑savings initiatives that support organizational growth and budgetary goals.
  • Build and maintain multi‑year commodity strategies and category roadmaps.
  • Engage suppliers early to support business requirements, new projects, and operational needs.
  • Establish and manage KPIs, scorecards, and processes to elevate supplier performance, service delivery, and sourcing efficiency.
  • Oversee contract negotiation, renewals, and supplier agreements to ensure optimal terms and risk mitigation.

Category & Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of indirect procurement categories including facilities services, IT hardware/software, professional services, logistics, MRO, and capital projects.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into sourcing strategies and supplier performance expectations.

Negotiation & Supplier Management

  • Advanced negotiation skills across contracts, MSAs, SLAs, renewals, and commercial agreements.
  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings, improving service levels, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Analytical & Systems Skills

  • Strong analytical capability in market assessment, supplier risk analysis, and total cost of ownership modeling.
  • High proficiency with Excel and Power BI for spend analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting.

Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders across multiple sites.
  • Comfortable presenting category strategies, business cases, and results to senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive accountability across internal teams and suppliers.
