Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 + relo assistance
Summary:
A reputable shipbuilding company is seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Mechanical Engineer for their Lafayette Region facility.
Responsibilities:
The ideal Lead Mechanical Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of 5-10 Mechanical Engineers and Designers, including recruiting talent, developing training programs, managing performance, and supporting professional growth.
- Partner with Engineering Leadership, Project Engineers, and cross-functional teams to establish department priorities, allocate resources, and drive successful execution of engineering initiatives.
- Oversee the review and approval of drawings, models, and designs to ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, regulations, and internal processes.
- Direct the design and integration of mechanical systems and commercial equipment for custom vessel programs, while serving as a key engineering resource for production and project teams.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts through process standardization, workload optimization, KPI development, and implementation of lessons learned across current and future vessel platforms.
Qualifications:
The ideal Lead Mechanical Engineer will have the following skill set:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years in the maritime industry, designing 2D and/or 3D mechanical and/or electrical systems
- Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Rhino
- Must be a US Citizen due to the nature of this role
