Logistics Manager
A growing building materials manufacturer is launching a brand new greenfield facility and needs a hands‑on Logistics Manager to build the site's logistics organization from the ground up. Production ramps late this year. This opportunity provides a rare chance to stand up the systems, teams, and processes that will scale with the plant.
Role Overview
The Logistics Manager leads all warehouse, inboundmaterials, and outbound shipping operations, ensuring raw materials and finished goods are received, stored, staged, and shipped safely, accurately, and cost effectively. This is a warehouse/manufacturing logistics role (not a transportation management seat), with full accountability for material flow, inventory integrity, and the safe, on‑time movement of product in and out of the plant. The role carries P&L responsibility and oversight of third‑party carriers on both inbound and outbound freight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all warehousing, storage, and material handling functions, including equipment.
- Direct shipping/receiving operations and supervise shipping coordinators and warehouse teams.
- Ensure timely distribution while maintaining strong inventory control and FIFO practices for raw materials and finished goods.
- Verify inbound materials and drive inventory accuracy across the site.
- Supervise loading/unloading of raw materials and finished goods; enforce safety procedures, rules, and PPE use.
- Develop and standardize SOPs, processes, and documentation for a new operation.
- Implement new systems, tools, and technology to support a scaling facility.
- Manage third‑party carriers bringing materials in and shipping finished goods out.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with production, customer service, quality, maintenance, sales, and operations to support logistics plans and continuous improvement.
- Hire, train, coach, and develop supervisors; build accountability throughout the logistics organization.
- Develop site performance reports, identify issues, and resolve concerns.
Organization & Growth
- Initially leads 2 Logistics Supervisors, growing to roughly 4 salaried supervisors plus an hourly workforce.
- Expected site headcount of ~50 within the first year.
- Responsible for building and developing the logistics organization as the facility ramps.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or transportation experience.
- 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience; experience leading teams of 20-30+ preferred.
- Background as a Supply Chain, Logistics, or Warehouse Manager within a manufacturing, plant, or production environment.
- Direct experience handling raw materials in a production setting.
- Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- LEAN / continuous improvement experience.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and G‑Suite.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred but not required (equivalent experience considered).
Nice‑to‑Have
- Greenfield / start‑up facility experience.
- Rail logistics exposure.
- Systems/technology implementation experience.

- Delivers on core KPIs: truck throughput and dock efficiency, on‑time shipments, safe loading/unloading, inventory/material accuracy, and overall site safety.
Travel
Significant travel during onboarding and training - an estimated 1-2 weeks per month for the first 2-3 months to collaborate with a counterpart site (out of state). Travel tapers after ramp‑up.
