Warehouse Logistics Manager
An industry-leading manufacturer of custom industrial machinery is hiring a hands-on Logistics Manager to lead its warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations. You'll be a strategic thinker who's also comfortable on the floor. You'll handle the day-to-day tactics while building a long-term plan for material flow, warehouse space, and team performance.
What You'll Do
- Lead all warehouse, inbound/outbound shipping, and internal and external receiving activities for a team of 13 associates plus contract labor, across 1st and 2nd shift.
- Be visible and engaged on the floor. Run daily Gemba walks, find root causes, and fix issues before they grow.
- Improve inbound material flow, warehouse organization, and inventory control to cut down on pick errors and material left on the floor.
- Come up with practical solutions to tight warehouse space, including layout, storage, and staging improvements.
- Oversee the packing and shipping of large custom machines. A single machine can ship in 30-35 trailers to domestic and international customers.
- Manage LTL, ocean, and air freight, including carrier coordination and freight negotiation.
- Keep a working knowledge of domestic and international shipping rules and import/export compliance, and partner with internal compliance resources.
- Use data and KPIs to track quality, accuracy, delivery times, stocking levels, and transportation costs, and to drive efficiency.
- Build a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement, with standard work and 5S housekeeping.
- Coach and develop the team, including growing a strong logistics lead into a bigger leadership role.
- Manage the departmental budget, resource plans, and internal controls.
- Work as a collaborative partner with the VP of Operations and with production, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience, including 3+ years leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
- A track record of turning around or improving warehouse operations and making change stick.
- Strong command of operational data, plus the ability to turn metrics into action.
- Hands-on knowledge of LTL, ocean, and air freight, and of domestic and international shipping requirements.
- Experience with an ERP and/or WMS. Familiarity with Workwise/TCM is a plus.
- An engaged, floor-focused leadership style.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to hold people accountable while building engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
