A growing and very well-respected $100M+ Consumer Goods business, is Transforming its existing Supply Chain infrastructure, along with building additional Supply Chain capabilities to support its exciting new revenue streams. This New VP Supply Chain will be responsible to build a modern, integrated, end-to-end supply chain function, including inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing interfaces, planning and replenishment, freight, and supplier management. Reporting directly to the C-suite, this leader will consolidate today's fragmented, manager-led logistics and purchasing functions under one accountable owner, establish real-time Supply Chain visibility and demand-driven planning, modernize freight and landed-cost management. The position truly is a company-defining, Full Modernization mandate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visibility & Logistics
- Establish real-time shipment visibility across inbound and outbound freight, replacing manual tracking and email ETA updates.
- Centralize all logistics activity under one owner and system of record, eliminating shadow spreadsheets.
- Own and manage air freight with full cost and performance tracking.
- Planning & Purchasing
- Implement demand-driven planning and MRP-based replenishment.
- Improve inventory turns, reducing excess stock and closeout costs while maintaining service.
- Partner with Sales and Customer Service to build and govern automated allocation processes.
- Cost, Suppliers & Standards
- Modernize freight and landed-cost management with ongoing cost visibility for leadership and Finance.
- Develop supplier scorecards and digital connectivity (EDI/vendor portal) to improve quality and delivery performance.
- Establish logistics process and data standards across the organization and contract logistics partners.
- ERP & Organization
- Lead supply chain requirements for ERP selection and implementation, ensuring business needs are met.
- Consolidate and develop logistics and purchasing teams, documenting processes and cross-training staff to remove key-person dependencies
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven Supply Chain Leadership. 8+ years leading logistics, planning, and procurement within manufacturing, import-driven, or distribution-focused environments.
- Planning & Inventory Expertise. Hands-on experience managing demand planning, MRP, replenishment, safety stock, lead times, and inventory optimization within modern ERP systems.
- Logistics Technology & Cost Management. Strong background with TMS, supply chain visibility tools, carrier integration, and freight/landed cost management.
- Transformation & ERP Leadership. Experience leading ERP selection or implementation projects and successfully consolidating fragmented logistics and purchasing functions under a unified operating model.
- Player-Coach Leadership Style. Strategic and hands-on leader who can personally execute while building scalable processes, partnering effectively across Warehousing, Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and IT to drive modernization without disrupting key relationships.
