Maintenance Engineer
Job Requirements
Maintenance Planning & Reliability
- Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Plan and prioritize daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance activities in partnership with operations and maintenance teams.
- Create maintenance plans, work scopes, and job packages to ensure efficient execution of maintenance activities.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, inspections, maintenance schedules, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Analyze equipment performance and maintenance history to identify recurring failures and improvement opportunities.
- Develop equipment Bills of Materials (BOMs), spare parts strategies, and maintenance procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues using engineering and reliability principles.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities are planned and executed in accordance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Review and maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and documentation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation to meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Coordinate contractors and ensure maintenance work is completed safely and effectively.
Projects & Cost Management
- Support development and management of annual maintenance budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce lifecycle costs.
- Manage equipment improvement and capital maintenance projects from conception through completion.
- Coordinate purchasing activities and vendor relationships related to maintenance services and equipment.
- Recommend practical, cost-effective solutions to improve equipment reliability and production performance.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing reliability and asset performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance processes, equipment, and work practices.
- Leverage maintenance data and predictive maintenance tools to support decision-making.
- Communicate maintenance priorities, project updates, and reliability recommendations to leadership.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance engineering, maintenance planning, scheduling, reliability engineering, or a related industrial role.
- Experience within a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Experience utilizing a CMMS platform for maintenance planning and execution.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize maintenance activities based on safety, operational needs, equipment criticality, and available resources.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the paper, pulp, tissue, or related process manufacturing industries.
- Experience with I-Maintenance or similar CMMS software.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Experience managing capital projects and equipment improvement initiatives
