About the Opportunity

DSJ Global is working with a leading paper and packaging manufacturer who is seeking a high-impact Maintenance Manager to serve as a key member of the plant leadership team. This individual will provide strategic leadership for all maintenance and reliability functions within a large-scale, 24/7 manufacturing operation.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for driving world-class equipment reliability, maximizing asset performance, developing a high-performing maintenance organization, and supporting operational excellence across the facility. This role requires a proven leader with a strong background in heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments and a track record of building reliability-focused cultures that deliver measurable improvements in safety, uptime, and cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, reliability, planning, and maintenance functions across the facility.
  • Lead and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, planners, reliability engineers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Establish and execute a long-term reliability strategy focused on maximizing equipment uptime, asset utilization, and overall plant performance.
  • Drive predictive, preventive, and precision maintenance programs utilizing best-in-class reliability practices.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and EHS leadership to support production goals and business objectives.
  • Lead root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and implement sustainable corrective actions to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics, including OEE, PM compliance, downtime, MTBF, MTTR, work order completion, and maintenance cost performance.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, labor resources, contractor performance, and capital expenditures.
  • Partner with Engineering to develop and execute capital projects that improve reliability, capacity, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead annual outages, major shutdowns, and turnaround activities to ensure safe and successful execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards while promoting a zero-incident culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, TPM, CI, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Develop succession planning and talent development strategies to build a world-class maintenance organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience within heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments.
  • Experience within paper, pulp, containerboard, tissue, corrugated packaging, converting, chemicals, wood products, power generation, or similar continuous-process operations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading maintenance organizations supporting large-scale 24/7 manufacturing operations.
  • Proven track record of improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and increasing manufacturing productivity.
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar maintenance budgets and capital improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, Oracle, or similar systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Experience leading both salaried and hourly maintenance organizations, preferably within a unionized or large manufacturing environment.

Work Requirements

  • Support a 24/7 manufacturing operation and provide leadership during critical equipment failures and plant emergencies.
  • Ability to lead plant shutdowns, outages, and capital project execution as required.
  • Occasional travel for training, benchmarking, and corporate initiatives.
