A growing industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Materials Manager to lead all aspects of materials planning, inventory control, production scheduling, and material flow operations at its Augusta, Georgia facility. This role will play a critical part in ensuring materials are available to support customer demand while driving operational efficiency, inventory optimization, and on-time delivery performance.
Reporting to plant leadership, the Materials Manager will oversee production planning, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics coordination while partnering closely with procurement, manufacturing, customer service, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on supply chain leader with a strong background in manufacturing environments and experience improving planning processes, inventory accuracy, and overall supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all material planning, production scheduling, inventory control, and material flow activities.
- Develop and execute production plans that align customer demand with manufacturing capacity.
- Ensure adequate raw material and component availability to support production requirements.
- Manage inventory levels, inventory accuracy initiatives, cycle counting programs, and material replenishment strategies.
- Partner with procurement and suppliers to proactively address material shortages and supply disruptions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction, lead time improvements, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators including inventory turns, on-time delivery, service levels, schedule attainment, and forecast accuracy.
- Collaborate with manufacturing leadership to optimize workflow and materials movement throughout the facility.
- Lead, mentor, and develop materials, planning, and inventory personnel.
- Support ERP/MRP system utilization and process improvements to enhance planning effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, production planning, supply chain, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, production planning methodologies, inventory management, and demand planning.
- Experience leading teams and driving operational improvements.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally within manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus.
