Mechanical Design Engineer
A global leader in high‑performance hoist, winch, and cargo‑handling systems for military and civilian aircraft is hiring an Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Morris County, New Jersey. They are seeking a detail‑oriented designer with strong Creo expertise and hands‑on aerospace design experience to support the development of next‑generation mission‑critical systems.
Position Summary:
As an Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer, you will create 3D models and detailed drawings in Creo as part of an integrated engineering team, supporting both conceptual and detailed design phases for advanced hoist, winch, and cargo‑hook systems. Your work will span top‑down assembly modeling, GD&T, design for manufacturability, and the preparation of production‑ready documentation.
You will collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, production personnel, and external suppliers to ensure high-quality, producible designs that meet aerospace performance and reliability requirements. You will also contribute to proposal efforts and support the full product life-cycle from development through manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in aerospace or a related field; Bachelor's preferred in Engineering or a related field.
- 5 years of mechanical design experience in aerospace or a related technical industry.
- Extensive Creo experience (top‑down assemblies, part modeling, drawings); cabling, surfacing, and sheet metal preferred.
- Strong capability in design for producibility, reliability, and ease of assembly.
- Solid knowledge of GD&T, aerospace materials, coatings, fasteners, and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.
- Experience with configuration management; Windchill preferred.
- US Citizenship or lawful permanent residence required due to government contract work.
