Operational Excellence Manager

We are currently working with a top-tier producer of environmentally responsible paper and tissue products, operating multiple facilities throughout the Southeastern U.S. Known for its dedication to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, this organization fosters a culture of continuous improvement and high-performance operations. Collaboration, integrity, and strategic problem-solving are central to its approach in meeting evolving customer and business demands.

We are hiring an Operational Excellence Manager to support one of its manufacturing locations. This role will lead site-wide improvement efforts, focusing on enhancing operational performance, streamlining processes, and driving cultural change. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, implement targeted solutions, and promote a mindset of innovation and accountability.

The Operational Excellence Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and related methodologies.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of projects aimed at increasing throughput, reducing waste, and optimizing material usage.
  • Create and deploy strategies that align operational excellence with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze workflows to identify constraints and recommend cost-effective, innovative solutions.
  • Deliver training and coaching on continuous improvement tools and practices.
  • Expand and refine performance management systems across the site.
  • Define and track key metrics to evaluate the success of improvement efforts.
  • Promote standardized processes and effective project management practices.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Strengthen the site's continuous improvement culture through visual tools, 5S, and KPI tracking.
  • Enhance team capabilities in structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Investigate and apply emerging technologies to boost operational efficiency.

The Operational Excellence Manager will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, ideally within the paper industry.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) and/or PMP certification preferred.
