Paper Machine Superintendent
Overview
DSJ Global is working with a well-established paper manufacturing company. They are seeking a Paper Machine Superintendent to lead one of their paper machines during a critical phase of operational improvement. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in challenging environments, enjoys developing teams, and possesses deep technical expertise in paper manufacturing operations.
Reporting directly to the Mill Manager, this individual will oversee the day-to-day performance, safety, quality, and productivity of the paper machine operation while leading a team of operators and process engineers.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of paper machine operations, including safety, quality, production, and employee engagement.
- Provide leadership and direction to operators, process engineers, and production personnel assigned to the machine.
- Serve as the primary technical resource and problem solver for machine-related issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, quality, and reliability.
- Partner closely with maintenance, engineering, quality, and mill leadership teams to achieve operational goals.
- Develop and coach employees while building a high-performance culture.
- Monitor machine performance metrics and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Support ongoing turnaround and operational improvement efforts across the facility.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a paper mill manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of paper machine operations and papermaking processes.
- Recognized as the "go-to" person for troubleshooting and solving complex operational issues.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing production personnel in a fast-paced industrial operation.
- Experience leading operations in a turnaround or performance-improvement environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Paper Science, or a related technical discipline preferred but not required.
- 3+ years of paper machine leadership experience.
- Experience working directly with parent roll production, converting pulp into finished paper rolls.
