Principal RF Engineer
Position Overview
A leading advanced technology organization serving mission-critical aerospace, defense, and high-reliability applications is seeking a Principal RF Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise in the development of complex RF systems. This role will lead multidisciplinary development efforts from concept through production while supporting innovative next-generation electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the detailed design, development, and integration of RF circuits, modules, and subsystems.
- Provide technical input to program planning, engineering estimates, and proposal efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to manufacturing, integration, verification, and test.
- Mentor and develop junior engineering staff through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Serve as the technical lead on development and production programs, working closely with cross-functional teams.
- Support product transition from development into production environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience developing and manufacturing high-reliability electronic products within aerospace, defense, military, or other regulated industries.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
- Extensive experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging RF, microwave, analog, digital, and mixed-signal systems.
- Expert-level proficiency with RF/microwave test and measurement equipment.
- Strong experience using RF simulation and modeling tools such as Microwave Office, ADS, HFSS, or similar platforms.
- Experience transferring new product designs into production manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of RF propagation, microwave engineering, and antenna theory.
- Active Security Clearance required on day 1.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience using engineering analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB.
- Background in failure analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
- Experience with phased-array system design, integration, and testing.
- Experience working with antenna test facilities and measurement ranges.
- Familiarity with advanced defense electronics and RF system architectures.
