Title: Purchasing Specialist

Overview

A growing technology systems integration company is seeking an Purchasing Specialist to manage procurement activities for customer projects and inventory. This role is responsible for sourcing equipment and services, negotiating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and coordinating with project teams to ensure materials are available on time and at the best value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue and manage purchase orders for project-related equipment and services.
  • Source materials from approved vendors while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Negotiate pricing and agreements with suppliers.
  • Monitor manufacturer lead times and shipping schedules, communicating updates to project teams.
  • Expedite orders when necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, quantity, or pricing.
  • Review and reconcile invoice discrepancies against purchase orders.
  • Process returns of unused, damaged, or incorrect equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and oversee stock replenishment.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Finance, and Estimating teams on purchasing reports and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or inventory management.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.

Preferred Background

  • Experience purchasing audio visual, technology, electronics, security, communications, or related equipment.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, purchase order management, and supplier performance tracking.
