CAPEX Category Manager

We are partnering with a leading North American industrial manufacturing organization to appoint a CAPEX Category Manager to support a major production facility in the Albany, NY area. This is a highly visible, plant-based procurement role focused on capital projects, equipment sourcing, construction services, and supplier management initiatives that directly impact site performance and long-term operational growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities supporting CAPEX projects, plant investments, equipment purchases, construction projects, and engineering services.
  • Manage competitive bid processes including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Develop and execute category strategies focused on cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and supply continuity.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, and Project teams to support capital investment initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, cost reduction, and process improvement across assigned spend categories.
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements while ensuring alignment with business objectives and project requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive accountability related to quality, delivery, service, and cost targets.
  • Support multiple capital projects simultaneously while managing stakeholder expectations and procurement timelines.

Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, project procurement, or supply chain within manufacturing, industrial, construction, building materials, chemicals, energy, utilities, or related industries.
  • Required experience sourcing capital project spend including capital equipment, construction services, engineering services, infrastructure, or major project spend.
  • Demonstrated success managing supplier negotiations, sourcing events, and contract execution.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, or capital project environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline preferred.
