Quality Assurance Manager
Role Summary:
The QA Manager plays a key role in ensuring that all products meet or exceed internal and regulatory quality standards. This position supports both quality control and quality assurance initiatives and contributes to continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years managing Quality and Food Safety operations.
- Minimum 2 years supervising QA/QC staff.
Education & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.
- SQF Practitioner Certificate preferred.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- HACCP certification required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food quality and safety.
- Conduct daily quality control checks and monitor food processing activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Support and lead audits conducted by regulatory bodies (USDA, FDA, Health Department, etc.), third-party certifiers, and customers.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of SQF Food Safety and Quality codes.
- Ensure QA programs are compliant, effective, and continuously validated.
- Communicate quality-related updates and initiatives across departments.
- Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process items, and finished products.
- Support calibration and preventive maintenance programs.
- Investigate nonconformities and customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Review production and quality records to ensure timely and effective corrective actions.
- Allocate QA team resources efficiently and ensure coverage across all shifts.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, customer requirements, and BRC standards.
- Provide technical support to customers and sales teams as needed.
- Maintain HACCP documentation and oversee prerequisite programs (e.g., sanitation, pest control, allergen management).
- Supervise and train QA staff, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing guidance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
