Quality Assurance Manager
A leading food and beverage manufacturer is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality and food safety activities across a fast-paced production facility. This role will oversee daily quality operations, develop QA personnel, drive compliance with food safety programs, and partner with operations to support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, a solid foundation in food safety systems, and a track record of maintaining high-quality manufacturing standards.
The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Manager will include:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Quality Assurance professionals while fostering a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily quality operations, staffing schedules, and quality oversight across multiple shifts.
- Review production and quality records to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate food safety and quality incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain laboratory and quality systems, including calibration programs, analytical methods, and record retention practices.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, GFSI requirements, FSMA regulations, and customer quality standards.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and utilize data analysis to identify trends and drive operational improvements.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits while ensuring audit readiness at all times.
- Develop and implement quality procedures, work instructions, and training programs to support operational excellence.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support product launches, process improvements, and manufacturing initiatives.
- Ensure effective supplier and incoming material quality verification programs.
- Serve as a key quality resource for production and site leadership teams, helping resolve quality and food safety concerns.
The ideal Quality Assurance Manager will have the following skillset:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- 3+ years of Quality Assurance experience within food and beverage manufacturing.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, GFSI, FSMA, food microbiology, and quality management systems.
- Experience supporting regulatory, customer, and certification audits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities with experience influencing cross-functional teams.
- Experience developing SOPs, training programs, and quality documentation.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
