Regional Automation Engineer (M/F/D)

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Regional Automation Engineer to support and lead automation and digitalization projects across multiple European sites. This role is part of a central engineering function and will report directly to the regional engineering lead, with dotted-line collaboration to local plant teams.

You will work closely with colleagues in Belgium and other European countries, supporting integration projects, automation upgrades, and robotics initiatives. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, international environment and is eager to bring fresh ideas and challenge the status quo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support automation and digitisation projects across regional sites, with a focus on Belgium initially due to high operational costs and resource constraints.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external integration partners on projects involving primary and secondary production lines, AGVs, UGI systems, and more.
  • Ensure compliance with industry norms and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Act as a technical liaison between central engineering and local plant teams.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and propose innovative solutions to improve automation efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on support during commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization phases.

Your Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
  • Strong experience in automation and robotics, particularly with Siemens PLCs (S7 Classic, TIA Portal), HMI systems, and drive technologies (SIMOTION/SINAMICS).
  • Experience in FMCG, hygienic manufacturing, food & beverage, or chemical industries is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills; Dutch or other European languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%) across Europe, especially in the first year.
  • Able to work independently, bring new ideas, and challenge existing processes constructively.

What We Offer

  • A high-impact role in a growing international company.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge automation and robotics projects.
  • Flexible working arrangements and hybrid options where applicable.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • A collaborative and respectful work culture with room for personal and professional growth.
