About the Opportunity
A fast-growing developer of advanced transmission infrastructure technology is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to support utility, EPC, consultant, and transmission customers across North America. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, customer support, field operations, testing, and industry engagement, helping customers successfully implement innovative overhead conductor solutions.
What You'll Do
- Support utility and transmission projects utilizing advanced conductor technologies
- Review transmission line designs, loading conditions, clearances, and conductor requirements
- Perform conductor application evaluations including ampacity, sag-tension, thermal performance, and mechanical loading
- Collaborate with utilities, EPCs, consultants, and transmission engineering firms
- Support technical studies, design reviews, customer meetings, and engineering presentations
- Develop technical documentation including application guides, specifications, and technical bulletins
- Provide field installation support, technical training, and troubleshooting
- Participate in qualification testing and validation activities
- Represent the company within industry standards organizations and technical committees
- Translate customer feedback into future product and application improvements
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years supporting transmission or distribution projects
- Understanding of transmission line design principles and overhead conductor applications
- Experience working with utilities, EPCs, engineering consultants, or conductor manufacturers
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Experience creating technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation
- Ability to travel to customer sites, field installations, and industry events
Preferred Experience
- PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, SAG10, or similar transmission software
- Conductor installation practices, stringing, sagging, and field support
- Industry standards participation (IEEE, ASTM, ANSI, IEC, CIGRE)
- Mechanical, electrical, thermal, or conductor qualification testing
- Power engineering fundamentals including AC/DC transmission systems
