Summary: A leading manufacturing company for precision medical technology components is looking for a new Senior Manufacturing Engineer for their site in Wheeling IL. This is a full time on site position, competitive compensation available.
Responsibilities:
- Support production with machine setups, troubleshooting, and operator training.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cycle time, tool life, and automation.
- Select, qualify, and launch new equipment on the production floor.
- Assist Engineering with part updates, machine layouts, and programming.
- Collaborate with customers to suggest design changes that improve cost, quality, or lead time.
- Communicate design updates to internal teams and ensure alignment.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions with manufacturing teams.
- Support quoting by providing technical input and accurate cost estimates for new parts.
- Develop documentation and training materials for new parts, including prints, tool layouts, and routing steps.
- Monitor new part performance and train staff on setup, operation, and quality procedures.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical part drawings.
- Skilled in designing processes and setting up CNC machines, including Swiss, vertical milling, and 5-axis equipment.
- Experience with CAD software for generating technical drawings; SolidWorks experience is a plus.
- Proficient in using CAD/CAM software for manufacturing applications.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience in a machining engineering role may be considered in lieu of a degree.
