Senior Metallurgical Engineer
Overview:
A leading industrial manufacturer is seeking a highly experienced Senior Metallurgical Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is ideal for a technical expert with deep knowledge of heat treatment and foundry processes, who is ready to take ownership of complex materials engineering challenges and contribute to the development of high-performance components used in demanding applications.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing metallurgical capabilities, improving product reliability, and supporting manufacturing excellence across global operations. This is a hands-on, strategic position that blends technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of heat treatment and casting processes for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
- Provide metallurgical expertise in support of product development, manufacturing, and supplier quality initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis of material failures and implement corrective actions to improve durability and performance.
- Develop and maintain material specifications, process standards, and quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with metallurgical requirements and drive continuous improvement.
- Perform metallographic evaluations, mechanical testing, and microstructural analysis to validate material properties.
- Support internal teams with technical guidance on metallurgy, including training and mentoring junior engineers.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards related to materials and heat treatment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in metallurgy, with a strong focus on heat treatment or foundry operations.
- Proven track record of working with castings, heat-treated components, and material failure analysis.
- In-depth understanding of metallurgical principles, phase transformations, and alloy behavior under thermal and mechanical stress.
- Experience with metallurgical lab equipment and techniques, including hardness testing, microscopy, and spectroscopy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
