SME Process Engineer
DSJ Global is currently partnered with a leading food and agricultural products manufacturing company who is seeking an experienced SME Process Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex agricultural and industrial processing operations. This individual will serve as the primary resource for process optimization, troubleshooting, reliability improvements, capital project development, and process safety initiatives. The role partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to improve plant performance, increase throughput, enhance product quality, and support long-term operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical expert for bulk material processing, extraction, refining, product handling, and supporting utility systems.
- Provide troubleshooting support and lead root cause investigations to improve process reliability and operational performance.
- Drive process optimization initiatives focused on throughput, yield improvement, energy efficiency, product quality, and cost reduction.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, environmental, and safety teams to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Lead the development of engineering scopes, basis of design documents, equipment specifications, and capital project requirements.
- Maintain and improve technical documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment records, engineering standards, and process safety information.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) activities and ensure engineering changes are properly documented and implemented.
- Develop equipment and process standards for manufacturing systems, material handling equipment, utilities, and process safety safeguards.
- Provide technical leadership during equipment installations, commissioning, startups, and performance validation activities.
- Monitor operational data and key performance indicators to identify process constraints and improvement opportunities.
- Support site master planning, capacity expansion efforts, and long-range reliability and infrastructure strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience within process manufacturing, industrial operations, or related continuous manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of process engineering, process safety, utility systems, equipment design, and industrial facility operations.
- Experience developing capital project scopes, engineering design packages, equipment specifications, and technical bid documents.
- Proven experience maintaining engineering documentation including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and technical records.
- Demonstrated expertise in bulk solids processing, extraction technologies, refining operations, or other large-scale process manufacturing environments.
