Overview:
The Tool Room Supervisor will oversee all activities related to the maintenance, repair, and optimization of injection molds and tooling used in the manufacturing process. This role ensures that tooling operations meet production requirements, quality standards, and safety guidelines while leading a team of skilled toolmakers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations of the tool room, including scheduling, prioritizing repairs, and coordinating preventive maintenance for injection molds and fixtures.
- Lead and mentor toolmakers, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards.
- Oversee troubleshooting and repair of molds, including hydraulics, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure proper cleaning, greasing, and servicing of molds to prepare for production runs.
- Manage high-precision machining activities using manual mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, maintenance, and service history per established procedures.
- Coordinate outsourcing of components and molds with external vendors when necessary.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance and reduce downtime.
- Enforce compliance with GMP, ISO standards, and safety regulations across all tool room operations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; technical or machining certification preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in injection molding tooling, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in precision measurement tools and machining processes.
