Tooling Strategy Manager
The Tooling Strategy Manager is responsible for ensuring that tooling capacity meets customer demand, overseeing tool build execution across internal and external suppliers, and managing qualification activities necessary for releasing tools into production. This role also mentors engineers, drives process standardization, and partners cross‑functionally to advance technical capabilities and improve manufacturing performance.
- Lead facility-wide tooling replacement strategy and maintain overall tooling condition.
- Develop or improve planning tools to align tooling capacity with customer casting demand.
- Identify new tooling requirements and ensure timely execution.
- Manage full tool build lifecycle from quote through qualification.
- Lead new product introduction initiatives, ensuring design for manufacturability, timeline adherence, budgets, and quality standards.
- Mentor engineers in NPI processes, tool build project management, and qualification work.
- Use continuous improvement methodologies to enhance systems, processing methods, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Perform run-at-rate analysis and evaluate future capability needs and capital requests.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering required
- Minimum 7 years of engineering experience, including tooling.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience.
