A leading food service distribution organization is seeking a Director of Transportation to lead one of its largest and most complex delivery operations. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, service performance, and most importantly, building a strong team-oriented culture across a large transportation workforce.

Position Overview
The Director of Transportation will oversee all distribution and delivery operations across a large regional transportation network. This leader will be responsible for managing supervisors, routing teams, clerical staff, and a substantial fleet operation while ensuring best-in-class customer service, safety, compliance, and financial performance.
This role requires a highly engaged leader capable of effectively leading 200-250+ direct and indirect reports, with the organization continuing to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transportation and delivery operations for a regional distribution network
- Drive safety, regulatory compliance, service performance, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage fleet, routing, labor planning, and transportation costs to maximize efficiency
- Develop and lead transportation teams while fostering a high-performance culture
- Oversee budgeting, KPI management, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve operational goals
Ideal Background
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of transportation, logistics, or distribution leadership experience
- Proven ability to lead large teams (150+ employees) through managers and supervisors
- Background in food service, beverage, grocery, or route delivery operations preferred
- Experience managing drivers, routing, compliance, and transportation operations
- Strong analytical and hands-on leadership skills; CDL-A preferred but not required
