Our utilities business unit is a cornerstone of our growth strategy, and we are seeking a results-driven Vice President of Sales to lead our efforts in expanding market share and deepening relationships within the utilities sector.

Position Overview

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy for the utilities market, driving revenue growth, and building long-term partnerships with utility companies, municipalities, and energy providers. This executive will lead a high-performing sales team and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of the power generation industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and implement a national/regional sales strategy focused on utility customers, including investor-owned utilities (IOUs), public power entities, and cooperatives.
  • Team Management: Lead, coach, and grow a team of regional sales directors and account managers to achieve aggressive sales targets.
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key utility clients, understanding their operational challenges and aligning solutions accordingly.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive activity to inform sales strategy and product positioning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product development, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on customer needs and solution delivery.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead complex sales negotiations, including long-term service agreements, capital equipment contracts, and strategic partnerships.
  • Forecasting & Reporting: Own sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reporting for the utilities segment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of sales leadership experience in the power generation, energy, or industrial manufacturing sectors, with a strong focus on utility customers.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving growth in complex, technical B2B environments.
  • Deep understanding of the utilities market, including regulatory frameworks, procurement cycles, and infrastructure needs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with long sales cycles and capital equipment sales.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
