Warehouse Operations Manager
Our client is an industry leader in construction chemicals and building materials. The company is now launching a new shower and accessories business line, a high-priority initiative backed directly by ownership.
They need a hands-on Operations Manager to stand up and run this business from end to end. That covers inbound purchased finished goods, inventory, kitting, light assembly, warehouse setup and outbound distribution. This is a different model from the company's core process-manufacturing operations. Instead of making products from raw materials, this team will source finished accessories, store them, assemble them into kits and ship them in high volume.
This is a rare chance to build a new operation from the ground up while working closely with senior leadership and ownership. It's also part of succession planning, with a long-term path towards more senior supply chian roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational setup and launch of the accessories business, including designing the warehouse layout, kitting and assembly areas, workflows and processes.
- Build a scalable supply chain and distribution model that supports commercial goals and fast growth.
- Define inventory and stocking strategies, including segmentation, replenishment, stock levels and service targets, while balancing customer demand, working capital and cost.
- Oversee kitting, light assembly and high-volume order fulfillment so that product kits are put together accurately and efficiently.
- Develop and optimize distribution and transportation strategies across parcel, LTL and other delivery methods.
- Manage supplier and vendor performance for purchased finished goods.
- Lead the day-to-day team, including a Warehouse Supervisor and a growing group of pickers and packers. Set clear responsibilities, standard work, accountability and a focus on safety, quality, productivity and service.
- Work with Commercial, Procurement, Customer Service, Finance and Engineering to set operating requirements and performance targets.
- Set and track operational KPIs, find root causes of performance gaps and drive measurable improvements.
- Use ERP data and Excel to build reports, analyze performance and create business cases for investments in footprint, systems, resources and transportation.
- Present updates and recommendations to senior leadership and ownership.
- Follow all quality management and EHS requirements.
