EHS Manager

A leading global food and beverage manufacturing organization is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to lead site-wide EHS programs and drive a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across a large manufacturing facility. This hands-on leadership role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety systems while partnering with plant leadership to improve safety performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

The responsibilities of the EHS Manager will include:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site-wide Environmental, Health & Safety programs and management systems.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, leadership coaching, safety training, and behavioral-based safety initiatives.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and compliance reviews to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs to reduce injuries and prevent recurrence.
  • Serve as the site's subject matter expert for OSHA, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to integrate EHS best practices into daily manufacturing activities.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, crisis management procedures, and site preparedness programs.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and KPIs, providing recommendations and action plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead environmental compliance efforts related to air, water, waste, stormwater, and other regulatory programs.
  • Deliver training programs and coach leaders at all levels to strengthen safety ownership and accountability.
  • Support the implementation of ISO-based management systems and ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, influencing strategic decisions related to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.

The ideal EHS Manager will have the following skillset:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance programs, and workplace safety management systems.
  • Experience managing air, water, waste, hazardous materials, and environmental permitting requirements.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives.
  • Experience supporting fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence change at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to build safety culture and drive measurable improvements in EHS performance.
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), ISO Auditor certifications, or related credentials are preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is a plus.
