Director of Logistics
The Director of Logistics is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of all logistics operations within the organization. This includes transportation, warehousing, inventory management, distribution, and supply chain optimization. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional teams, implement best practices, and drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the logistics network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with company goals and customer expectations.
- Oversee daily operations of transportation, warehousing, and distribution functions.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), carriers, and vendors.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to logistics and transportation.
- Collaborate with procurement, sales, and operations teams to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team.
- Utilize logistics software and technology to enhance visibility and efficiency.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost analyses.
- Respond to and resolve logistics-related issues and disruptions in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of logistics systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex logistics networks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
