3rd Shift Quality Supervisor
The Quality Assurance Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of product quality and food safety within the manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing quality systems, supervising QA team members, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, certification, and customer requirements. The position drives continuous improvement initiatives to uphold brand standards and deliver operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop QA team members on the manufacturing floor and in the QA Lab to achieve quality, safety, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Oversee and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation, training, and internal audits to ensure compliance with company specifications and regulatory standards.
- Manage food safety programs such as HACCP, GMP, and BRC, including updates, verifications, and validations for continuous improvement.
- Supervise daily product disposition activities, including positive release and hold programs.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams on QA and food safety matters.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits by regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and customers; evaluate findings and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5Why) to resolve non-conformities and enhance quality performance.
- Ensure compliance with pest control programs and liaise with operations to meet all requirements.
- Collaborate on SOP development and maintain proper documentation control in alignment with manufacturing excellence standards.
- Engage and develop team members through coaching, training, and performance management to build a high-performing workforce.
Requirements:
- Postsecondary degree in a relevant field (Biology or Food Science preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of QA leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementing and maintaining GFSI audit programs.
- HACCP certification (Seafood HACCP preferred); internal auditor certification required.
- Knowledge of microbial and aseptic techniques.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma) highly desirable.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills.
